Getting there…
Anacortes Ferry
Having the opportunity to visit Orcas Island was an opportunity that may never come again. Our friend in Spokane, WA, has a good friend who owns a home on Orcas Island and offered for us to stay there. Well, yes please. How lucky am I to have a friend, who has a friend with a home that would be empty the weekend we were going? Life is short, take advantage of opportunities when they are presented to you. I will tell you more about our stay on the Island in my next post.
So, we drove from Spokane to Anacortes to take the ferry over. Along the way we visited with our friends family. We stopped at a fruit stand to pick up some fresh peaches and apples. We spent the night in Wenatchee and the next morning visiting Leavenworth, which is a quaint Bavarian-styled village in the Cascade Mountains. Then finished our drive during the afternoon to make our ferry reservation at 7:50 pm.
If you are taking the ferry be sure to make a reservation. You can do this at http://www.wsdot.com/ferries/schedule/Default.aspx
We arrived on our island about an hour later and in the dark. We absolutely loved the home and couldn’t wait for morning so we could see the shore and start exploring the island.
Blessing,
V
